Partnerships

Library
In 2006 we developed a partnership with Sheffield Libraries. We wanted to encourage learners to feel confident to access other services across the city. We launched the partnership in Adult Learners Week 06 with an exhibition on Literacy and Language Learning. This was followed by library tours with ESOL tutors, and training for tutors to access resources fully in order to meet their group needs.
We have worked with the library to find suitable books and tapes for our students and they have identified a significant amount of funding to widen their resources to be more accessible. We have book boxes at REEP which we change termly. This allows us to have an ever changing set of learning resources and to loan sets of books out to use in class, a big asset to the centre.
Outreach
We began offering ESOL in the community in 2005, this has been a big success. Our partners, The Broomhall Centre, have gone on to hold a day of their programme around supporting refugees and asylum seekers in their area.
